Nursing homes
The statutory power of a registration authority (now contained in the Care Standards Act 2000) to seek an order of cancellation of the registration of a nursing home is designed to protect residents and does not of itself create a duty of care towards the owner of the home: Trent Strategic Health Authority v Jain and another [2009] 2 WLR 248 HL.
